Sarah O'Kennedy

Background

Sarah O’Kennedy hails from Limerick and took to singing from a young age when she won her first gold at Féile Luimnigh when she was 10. She studied voice with Marie Walshe, Limerick School of Music, and in Leinster School of Music with Evelyn Dowling and obtained her performance diploma in singing with Trinity College London.  She has a BA in European Studies (Hons) from University of Limerick, a HDipEd (Hons) from University College Cork and a Grad Dip (Hons) in Software Localisation also from U.L.

Performing

Sarah spent many years recording and touring with Irish singing group Anúna. She loves singing at weddings and feels priviledged to be able to add some of her magic to such an important day in a couple’s lives. Her biggest highlights to date include singing solo with Anuna on BBC’s Songs of Praise, singing in the House of Commons chapel in London, and at the wedding of Irish rugby captain Brian O’Driscoll and actor Amy Huberman in Co. Leitrim. Sarah is a previous winner of Church Singer of the Year at the Weddings Online.ie wedding industry awards. 

She toured with the grammy award winning harper Janet Harbison and The Irish Harp Orchestra all over Germany as their principal female soloist. She is a member of Limerick Chamber Choir and performed with the Path of Miracles choir for their debut concerts around Ireland and in Tallinn, Estonia.

Teaching

In 2014 Sarah travelled to London to study a method for teaching music to young children called Colourstrings, and was hooked!  In the same year she started her own business called Little Stars Music where she teaches group music classes to children from 1-6 years of age.  She also runs Primary School music workshops and Music and Movement classes all over County Limerick.
